Discovery News found out some months ago the world’s rarest gemstone bead. It is true that all gemstones other than being precious are also rarely found, just that some of them are harder to find than all the other ones.
There is no consensus on which is the rarest mineral or the rarest gemstone because there is no consensus on the definition of rarity, according to the Gemological Institute of America.
However, we cannot ignore the fact that all the gemstones that we are aware of come from one or two locations around the world, so in what sense are they scarce?
The Pink Star Diamond
In the image above, famous model Annabeth Murphy – Thomas poses with the Pink Star Diamond at Sotheby’s auction house in Central London. The diamond measures 1.06 inches by 0.81 inches (2.69 cm by 2.06 cm). We heard that it was actually put to auction in Geneva on Nov. 13, 2013, at a $60 million price tag, which is an already set record for a gemstone. The rarest gemstone as we call it was sold at $83 million. Diamond cutter Isaac Wolf of the New York City purchased the Pink Star Diamond ring and he named it ‘The Pink Dream’.
