Hessonite is a variety of grossular garnet. It is found in various shades of brown and orange. Gem quality hessonite is being mined in Sri Lanka, California, Quebec and Brazil. Like the yellow sapphire, golden hessonite is a good balancing stone. It calms the nerves, quiets the mind, relieves depression.
